A new online survey tool developed by Australian Survey Research, combined
with a new secure website, now allows the AIC to host and run secure surveys
and ensure the privacy and integrity of data.
The AIC has also installed Space Time Research’s SuperSTAR web data analysis software. This enables users to manipulate and analyse quantitative data at different aggregation levels. It will provide the means for statistical, analytical
and multi-format visualisation, simple ad hoc reporting and geospatial analysis. The DUMA dataset is the first to use the new analyser and elements of the dataset will soon be available through the secure website to participating agencies. Over the longer term the AIC will use the tool to publish other datasets to the web and provide graduated access from the general public to specialist users.

Rust Report: Aussie adds up for Russian Statistician

Melbourne-based developer Space-Time Research (STR) got in amongst the action this month as a number of small Australian companies made headlines by winning big export orders. STR was selected to provide its SuperStar tabulation and dissemination software to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service. The deal followed trials of the software on the Russian Population Census and Enterprise database last year, and the first live application will be in support of the Russian Agricultural Census, explained John Ellenberger, STR's general manager of marketing.
Coincidentally, STR has opened an office in the UK to support its increasing user base there and to tackle the data warehouse market.

Australian data access and analysis specialist Space-Time Research (STR) has secure a significant deal with the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (ROSSTAT), catapulting it into the European market.

Space-Time Research, a leader in providing Self-Service Business Intelligence solutions has established operations in the United States.

Vice President of Strategic Development for Space-Time Research, Don McDougall said “this is an exciting time in the business intelligence software market.  There are several discontinuities in technology and requirements that make it interesting for smaller companies, including software as a service and open source.  However, the most meaningful change is the ability for many more, if not all users to do their own analysis on large amounts of data.  Furthermore, managing the data centrally maintains “one version of the truth” and allows a question-answer-question approach to business analysis.  We think of our product as a creativity engine to be used by everyone for successful analysis and innovation.”

  2007 February

In February this year, Melbourne-based software company Space-Time Research won a contract with the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (ROSSTAT) for the use of their SuperSTAR tabulation and dissemination software in all major statistical surveys in Russia.

SuperSTAR software was trialled last year on the Russian Population Census and Enterprise data base and is now being used to support the Russian Agricultural Census.

Space-Time Research first became interested in the Russian market in 1995 when representatives from the Russian government attended a statistical conference held in Sydney.  Space-Time Research was one of the sponsors and the company had Russian speakers on staff.
