  Ivor Frischknecht
 
Ivor Frischknecht joined Starfish Ventures in 2005 after 15 years of hands-on management and investing experience. His investment focus is Cleantech and enterprise software. He has spent more than ten years in senior operational management roles, including as CEO, in energy, software and internet companies. 
  Lex McArthur
  Lex has over 22 years' experience in management roles in the finance, technology and mining sectors. He has extensive operational experience with technology start-ups as CEO of one of Australia's leading IT investment incubators from 2000 to 2002 and prior to this as CEO of an IT service company and a multimedia publisher. He is on the boards of Space-Time Research, Redfern Broadband Networks and Redfern Optical Components.
  Wayne Fitzsimmons
 

Wayne is a partner in the MGroup, a boutique investment company based in Melbourne, Australia with offices in Washington, DC. He and his two partners provide a broad range of professional advice to high technology IT and Biotech companies in the area of management, business planning and legal services. Wayne is an experienced executive who has worked extensively in the USA (10 years), UK (4 years) as well as in his home country of Australia.

Management Team

  Don McDougall
 

Don McDougall is the CEO of Space-Time Research. 

Prior to Space-Time Research Don was the Vice President of Customer Solutions and Alliances and the Western Region Commercial Sales at the SAS Institute. Before its acquisition by SAS, Don was President and COO of ABC Technologies and a long-time board member. He has also held the role of President and CEO of Decision Dynamics Inc, a developer of Supply Chain and Optimization software, and CEO of the Mitron Corporation, a developer of manufacturing automation software. Don was also Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Floating Point Systems, and a long time employee and divisional Vice President of Data General Corp. in Westborough, Massachusetts.

Don holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and has attended Executive management and leadership courses.

  Warren Richter
 

Warren Richter joined Space-Time Research in 2000 as General Manager Technology Strategy and is now the Chief of Research and Technology for Space-Time Research. 

 

Prior to joining Space-Time Research, Warren was a senior executive in several Australian government agencies including the Department of Defence, the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Communications, IT and the Arts. 

 

Warren holds a Bachelor of Economics and Master of Science (IT) degrees.

  John Ellenberger
 

John is Space-Time Research’s General Manager of Marketing, responsible for overseeing all components of the company’s marketing, as well as assisting in the development of the company’s strategic and product direction.   He is a long standing senior member of the Space-Time Research team, having originally joined the company as Product Manager in 1996 at the request of the company’s founder.  John has been involved in most of Space-Time Research’s major sales to national statistical agencies and federal government.

Prior to joining Space-Time Research, John worked with Statistics New Zealand where he assisted with the commercialisation of statistical outputs, as well as preparing marketing plans for the Census and developing new statistical products and services.  John has also worked with New Zealand Steel. 

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a double major in economics and marketing.

  Rob Coulson
 

Rob has been General Manager Business Development at Space-Time Research for four years, and has worked in the software industry for over 36 years. 

Rob, who holds an MA in Mathematics from Oxford, has worked in the UK, USA and of course Australia, where he has lived for the last 25 years.  A former User Association founder, Rob has worked with most sectors of business, industry, government and finance. 

  Justin Doherty
 

Justin joined Space-Time Research in 2006 as General Manager Services. Justin is responsible for overseeing the provision of consulting, training and support services.

Prior to joining Space-Time Research, Justin has held positions as Professional Services Manager at Information Builders and Vignette, and Asia Pacific Services Manager at Global 360. Justin has also worked as a Claims Operations Manager at RACV Insurance.

Justin holds a Bachelor of Science and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting.

  Andrew Herbert
 

Andrew is Space-Time Research’s General Manager, Software Development, responsible for the company’s software engineering capability, including product delivery, the software architecture roadmap and ongoing engineering process improvement.

Prior to joining Space-Time Research in late 2007, Andrew worked in the Internet Service Provider industry, as Information Systems Development Manager at Pacific Internet and co-founder of Mira Networking.

Andrew holds BSc (honours) and PhD degrees in computer science from Monash University and an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery.

  Morton Geppert
 

Morton Geppert is Space-Time Research’s Country Manager for UK, responsible for all sales and operations in one of the company’s fastest growing regions. He was recruited to set up the UK office in October 2006 due to his Management and Business Intelligence experience – The region met its phase 1 goals within 6 months. Morton has made significant contributions in the successful extensions of the offering to Insurance and Telcos and worked with development in differentiating the product set versus generic BI Stack vendors. 

Prior to joining Space-Time Research, Morton was Strategic Programs Director and Financial Services Director at SAS.Over a career spanning 18 years, he established and grew the Finance and Banking Division, their most successful division ever and also built the company’s Product Marketing practice – Morton was European sales executive of the year 6 times and Industry Manager on 7 occasions. He has also contributed to strategy at leading Customer Flow and Customer Relationship vendors where he transformed the technological and commercial propositions. 

Morton is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Qualifications include BA (Econ) Hons from University of Lancaster, Strategy Diploma from IMISP (St Petersberg) and an MBA from Henley Management College where he specialized in Customer Behaviour over the Internet.

  James Fergusson
 

James joined the organisation in 2007 as the General Manager – Finance & Administration, responsible for overseeing the global financial, legal and human resources functions.

He has been in the IT industry for the past 12 years, previously with Netspace Online Systems Pty Ltd (ISP) and Pacific Commerce Pty Ltd (supply chain portal).  Prior to the IT industry he worked for Carlson Marketing Group, who launched the frequent flyer programs in Australia and other rewards programs in the banking and hotel industries. He has worked in the US, New Zealand and Australia.

James is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and is currently a member of the SME committed at CPA Australia.
